Grand Bahama International Airport (GBIA) is a privately owned joint venture between The Grand Bahama Port Authority and Hutchison Port Holdings. GBIA has a runway of 11,000-ft. which is capable of handling the largest aircraft in service. A new full service international terminal with state of the art US Pre-Clearance facilities opened in 2004.

Freeport Container Port (FCP)

FCP is privately owned and operated by Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH), and is strategically located to serve as a major world container transshipment hub between the eastern gulf coast of the United States, the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, South America, and trade lanes to European, Mediterranean, the Far East and Australian destinations.

Freeport Harbor Company (FHC)

FHC is jointly owned by The Grand Bahama Port Authority and Hutchison Port Holdings. Freeport Harbor is one of the largest man-made harbors in the world and one of the deepest in the region. FHC is also a major landlord with ship repair facilities and other marine operations within the harbor.

Sea Transportation

The Bahamas is host to twenty-three seaports, allowing regular shipping and connections to the Americas and Europe. The deep-water shipping port in Grand Bahama is a major international transshipment centre, servicing both tourism and commerce. Expansion of the Grand Bahama Harbour was completed in 1998, making Grand Bahama a modern container transshipment terminal. Currently some 5 cruise ships call on Grand Bahama with regularity. Discovery Cruise offers daily cruise services to and from the island from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Discovery departs daily from South Florida at 7:45 a.m. and returns at 10:00 p.m.

Inter-island

The Mailboat service is a means of inter-island freight transportation. Some locals also use the mailboat as transportation. Other freight servicing boats to Grand Bahama are The Bahamas Sky and the Marcella III, which have weekly service between Grand Bahama and Nassau.

Upon your arrival to Grand Bahama you will be asked to fill out an Immigration Arrival/Departure Card which you will keep part of until your departure.
